Letter from Dr Liz Saunders, Surrey and Sussex Strategic Health Authority

27 April 2004

Dear Mr Davidson

Re: TETRA Masts

Your letter to Dr Diana Grice has been passed to me for investigation.

I have contacted the Health Protection Agency (HPA) to see what exactly they are doing to address your concerns about the possible health effects of TETRA masts. My understanding is that the advice from the HPA is that further scientific studies are required to ascertain whether there are any ill effects from these masts as there is currently a lack of evidence. I am aware that Dr David Hagen from the HPA is contacting the NRPB to request that a national study should be done which should include communities from within Sussex.

Having read the correspondence, I would agree that this might be the best course of action. I will be in touch again when I receive further information.

Yours sincerely

Dr Liz Saunders
