To: Mr Tim Loughton
MP for East Worthing and Shoreham
House Of Commons
London

Friday 5 March 2004
Dear Mr Loughton,
My first fax to you was to urge you to support the private members bill on siting of
masts. That was before the mast at Woodside Road (Worthing FC) was switched on. I
heard you last night, and I was the one on the right of the panel, who you didn’t hear:
shame you had to move on.
Aside from useful information sharing and discourse about the football clubs position,
we had dialogues about planning permission, legal action in pursuit of nuisance, and
opinion sharing about the obfuscation and denial of police, O2 and the
government/Home Office.
All that was quite overshadowed by the discovery that television interference is the least
of our worries. As I stood to speak and explain our local website
(www.worthingnotetra.org.uk - do go there) I felt it right to explain that if I muddled my
words it was due to tiredness. I have been unable to sleep more than 2 hours since the
day the mast was switched on. Ive had constant headaches, some dizziness and
nausea, and itchy skin. As I spoke, a forest of hands shot up. Dozens of people started
shouting the same things were happening to them.
I have written to the Director of Public Health, Arun and Adur PCT, and reported to my
doctors practice, urging both to keep a watching brief and observe and share reported
symptoms. How many other people less interested in local action are also getting more
than TV interference? The effect seems to stretch some distance.
One lady in St Elmo Road with a baby daughter requiring 24/7 watch (lest she die, I
understand) has been using a special monitor in liaison with Great Ormond Street. This
no longer works, due to the TETRA interference. She is at her wits end, as you can
imagine.
Tim, this is bigger than a little local protest over planning permission and fears for
health. We need to be recognised for what is happening to us. Sleep deprivation leads
to all manner of illness, including cancer.
O2 even today has said to me that the 17Hz pulse is trivial and thousands of time lower
than recommended levels. I am completely fobbed off for what I am suffering. They either
dont understand the true scientific issues, or they do and are acting with criminal
irresponsibility.
Please dont just resite this mast; it is a national scandal of equal stature to tobacco,
CJD and Thalidomide. I dont want my back yard clear, I want nobody else in the UK to
suffer what I am suffering with so many others right now. We need someone to listen and
take notice.
I look forward to developing confidence in parliament and my local MPs.
sincerely
Andy Davidson
