TETRA: Say no to an unsafe technologyfind out more information about TETRA

Reply from Dr Mireille Levy on behalf of Tony Blair, to Mandee Keeling, Bognor Regis

Mandee Keeling and her family have suffered badly from the Reynolds mast in Bognor. As a result, she wrote to Tony Blair, relating her family’s suffering and frustration that no-one would listen. Dr Levy appears to have forgotten her earlier remarks: ‘there is certainly no intention to be dismissive of these concerns’:

7 May 2004

Dear Mrs Keeling

Thank you for your letter of 26 April 2004 about TETRA technology.

I know you would have preferred a reply direct from No. 10 Downing Street. I am sorry that this is not possible.

You have seen Hazel Blear's letter to Members of Parliament on TETRA health issues.* I am afraid there is nothing further we can add at this stage.

Most of the masts for the new police radio system are now in operation, covering most of the country. We have had very few reports attributing ill-health symptoms to TETRA technology. These tend to originate from areas where there are very active anti-mast groups, disseminating misleading information about TETRA.

Meanwhile, Sussex police are eager to start using their new radio system, which will offer much better coverage than the current one and enhance the safety of officers and the public.

Further information on TETRA health and safety is available from the Home Office website: www.homeoffice.gov.uk/docstetra.html.

Yours sincerely

Dr Mireille Levy

* In case you too have not read this letter from Hazel Blears (not Blear) to MPs, here it is!

And yes, that Home Office web page about TETRA has moved ...

(Mandee has replied ... to Tony Blair.)

comment: any complaint attributing symptoms to TETRA may well be a result of knowing something about TETRA. Of course if you know nothing about TETRA you will not attribute it.
