Dear Sirs

I am writing to you on the recommendation of Councillors Don Lissenburg and Janet Goldbrough-Jones, regarding the reported illness coinciding with the switching on of the O2 Airwave (TETRA) mast at Worthing FC, Woodside Road.

As you will be aware, this mast was activated on 26 February, and is situated in the midst of housing in Bulkington Avenue, Woodside Road, St Elmo Road and Pavilion Road. Many people are experiencing disturbed sleep patterns with the same and unusual characteristics. Many more are experiencing constant headaches that cannot be shifted. Reports have been made by people further afield as well, but as yet there is no co-ordinating action by any official authority.

A week ago I wrote to Dr Farhang Tahzib, Director of Public Health, Adur and Arun, and consulted with my doctor for discussion within their practice, at the onset of these and other symptoms. My request was for observational research and co-ordinating action so that any pattern to these occurrences could be determined.

At a meeting last week of residents I also urged all those suffering symptoms should report them to their doctors, so that as much could be known as possible. We feel we have very little recourse to recognition of what is happening. O2 simply say that it can't be anything to do with their installation, despite these symptoms (we now find) being reported in many similar situations where these masts have been installed.

Our environment is being compromised as surely as a business polluting it with rubbish, fumes or noise. We are every bit as ill as had we eaten in an unhygienic restaurant. We are therefore appealing to you from considerable distress, to act on our behalf to undertake impartial investigations and put a stop to the cause of our ill health.

Yours faithfully

Andy Davidson
